How We Brought Katrina's iPhone 11 Back to Life and Saved Her Data
Katrina's iPhone 11 came back to life with its data
Katrina’s clean-looking iPhone 11 would not turn on, and important information had not been backed up to iCloud. A battery, charging port, and screen had already been tried elsewhere.
Our tests pointed to the USB and charging-control circuit on the original logic board. After careful microsoldering, the phone powered on normally and Katrina could still access her data. The documented case price was $280.

Why repairing the original board mattered
Replacement parts had already been ruled out
A battery, charging port, and screen had already been tried without bringing the phone back. Katrina needed access to the original phone because much of its information had never reached iCloud.
The diagnostic pointed to the charging-control circuit
We removed the logic board, connected a known-working charging port, and checked the USB and charging path with a TriStar/Hydra diagnostic tool. The first result was FAIL. We confirmed that direction with multimeter measurements and additional tests.
Careful microsoldering protected the data path
The failed charging-control chip sits under a shield soldered to the board. We opened only the area needed, replaced the charging-control IC, one small capacitor, and one larger power coil, then retested. The diagnostic changed from FAIL to PASS.
Final checks and customer result
- Board measurements and power behavior were checked.
- Charging remained stable.
- The original iPhone powered on normally.
- Katrina’s existing data remained accessible.
“Highly recommend for iPhone repairs! Was able to fix my phone and keep all data when other places told me it wasn’t possible. Amazing service!”

iPhone 11 board-repair questions
Can an iPhone that will not turn on be repaired without erasing it?
Sometimes. If the original logic board can be repaired safely, the phone may return without an erase. Every case needs inspection first.
Why did another battery, port, or screen not fix this phone?
Those parts had already been tried. Testing pointed instead to the charging and USB control circuit on the logic board.
What does a TriStar/Hydra FAIL result mean?
It points toward a fault in the USB or charging-control path. It is a clue that must be confirmed with electrical measurements and other tests.
Why is opening the shield delicate?
Too much heat, force, or tool movement can damage nearby components or board layers and can make stored data unreachable.
Is $280 the price for every no-power iPhone repair?
No. That was Katrina’s case price. Another repair depends on model, failed parts, earlier repair attempts, board condition, and diagnosis.
