REAL FAST REPAIR CASE

Bent iPhone 16 Plus Logic Board Repair in Sacramento

IPHONE 16 PLUS REPAIR STORY

A car-door crush damaged the frame, display, and stacked logic board

An iPhone 16 Plus arrived at Fast Repair after being caught inside a car door. The pressure severely bent the housing, destroyed the display, and left the phone showing green lines and distortion. The customer told us they had already tried the Apple Store, another repair provider, and their insurance route without finding a repair path.

During diagnosis, the phone remained stuck on Searching and its IMEI was not visible. Those symptoms pointed beyond the screen and housing to damage at the stacked logic-board assembly.

Fast Repair repaired the board connection, rebuilt the phone into a replacement midframe, installed a new display, and restored normal operation. The documented total was the same $380 parts-and-labor price quoted before work began.

DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR

From a crushed chassis to a working iPhone

The damage went beyond the screen

The display was physically destroyed and showing green lines, while the housing had a severe bend. Replacing only the screen would not have addressed the structural damage or the cellular fault.

Searching and a missing IMEI changed the diagnosis

The phone stayed on Searching, and its IMEI was not visible. The force from the car door had disturbed the stacked “sandwich” logic-board assembly and the connections between its layers.

Board-layer microsoldering restored the cellular path

Our technician separated the stacked board layers, inspected and reworked the affected interconnects, then soldered the layers back together. After reassembly, the IMEI was visible again and the phone could register cellular service instead of remaining on Searching.

A new midframe and display completed the rebuild

With the board fault resolved, we transferred the usable components into a replacement midframe/housing and installed a new display. Final checks covered display image, touch, fit, power, IMEI visibility, and cellular registration.

The customer approved a $380 parts-and-labor total before work began. The final total remained $380 with no end-of-repair upcharge.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Bent iPhone and logic-board repair questions

Sometimes. Repairability depends on the condition of the logic board, battery, cameras, connectors, and other assemblies. A hands-on diagnosis is required before a repair path can be confirmed.

In this case, the car-door impact disturbed connections in the stacked logic-board assembly. Searching and an unavailable IMEI can have other causes, so those symptoms still require board-level diagnosis.

Some iPhone logic boards use stacked layers joined by many soldered interconnects. Repair can require separating the layers, inspecting and reworking the affected connections, then accurately soldering the layers back together.

No. $380 was the documented parts-and-labor total for this specific repair and was approved upfront. Pricing varies with the device, damage, parts, board work, and testing required.

Not when a board-level cellular fault remains. This iPhone needed both the board-layer repair and the physical rebuild before the screen, frame, IMEI visibility, and cellular registration could be verified together.
